Travelling post-pandemic era has led most of this world’s globetrotters seeking to alternative kinds of vacation experiences, those ones with a real sense of “returning to the basics” & re-establishing our connection both with Nature & other Human.
It comes with no surprise that most of the tourism professionals, nowadays, are required to focus their travel services on challenges such as : supporting social communities, volunteering in helping the environment’s recovery, animals interacting, eco-friendly moving, slow eating & “as locals are living”.
About this last one.. seems that travelling is no longer all about visiting a country, posting pictures on famous monuments, dining in a touristic restaurant & returning to a hotel’s room.. Actually, travelling today is nothing like that..
“Living with locals” enables travelers to feel welcomed, in a totally new environment (whether a private house, a terrace, a garden – or even better, a kitchen) ! Having the chance to interact with locals in their daily life, being a part of their activities & entertainment will make travelers feel not just as “visitors”, but more as “long time, no see” family members ! They will make one more step ahead & be proud to introduce their “expanded family members” to their culture, life style, traditions, gastronomy, language, sayings & jokes of their homeland !
However, the “key” in living with locals is.. sharing ! Best part comes when travelers share stories of their own home-countries, showing them pictures of their dearest people waiting back home, even cooking a typical dish of their respective culinary origins. And then, who knows ? Locals may feel challenged to return the trip !
Seriously now, how many hotels do we know that can offer amenities (or better.. benefits) such as life-time overseas friendships ?
